Terms & Conditions – The Door Company UK Ltd

The Door Company UK is a trading name of Fogerty Group Ltd, registered in England & Wales (Company No. 14521931). Registered office: One Silk Street, Manchester, M4 6LZ.

By using our website or placing an order, you agree to these terms.

1. Orders & Acceptance

Placing an order is an offer to buy. An order is only accepted once we confirm it and payment has been received. We may decline, cancel or amend orders at our discretion (for example, due to pricing errors, stock issues or supply problems) and will contact you if we do. Purchases are for personal/household use, not for resale.

2. Prices & Payment

Prices are as shown at the time of order and confirmed in your order email. Prices may change without notice and exclude any applicable taxes or delivery charges unless stated.

Following your measuring appointment, we will review your door files and send a quotation. On acceptance, we will send a secure payment link for full payment by debit or credit card. Bank transfers are also accepted on request. Cash is only accepted at the measuring appointment.

3. Measuring & Fitting Appointments

  • We recommend any new flooring or carpet is laid before your measuring appointment for accurate fit. Free return visits to correct fitting issues do not cover problems caused by new flooring or carpet laid after our doors have been fitted; adjustments in those circumstances will be charged per door.
  • Due to the wide area we cover, appointment times may occasionally be adjusted to suit our route on the day. If we are running late due to circumstances outside our control (e.g. traffic or accidents), we will contact you as soon as possible.
  • We do not remove or dispose of old doors. Please leave them in place until our fitters arrive; they will take them down and place them where you request. We recommend you do not remove them yourself, in case the appointment needs to be rescheduled. Disposal can usually be arranged via your local council for a small fee.

4. Hinges & Filler

We may relocate hinge positions on your frame to ensure a secure fixing point. As a free service, our fitters will fill old hinge recesses with wood filler if requested. Filler requires at least 24 hours to dry before sanding and painting, which should be done by you after installation. Filler cannot always be used where packers are needed to correct frame bows or kinks. We recommend you do not paint your door frames prior to fitting.

5. Irregular Frames & Uneven Floors

Where door frames are irregular or floors uneven, we may recommend fitting timber strips to reduce gaps at the bottom of the door. This is an optional extra cost which will be discussed and agreed with you before fitting. Polished chrome hinges, latches and latch plates are used as standard unless otherwise requested.

6. Pipework & Wiring

You must inform us of any pipework, cabling or electrical wiring located behind or near your existing door frames at or before the measuring appointment. The Door Company UK will not be liable for damage to concealed pipework or wiring where its presence has not been disclosed to us in advance.

7. Delivery

Delivery timescales are estimates only and not guaranteed. We are not liable for delays caused by carriers or other factors outside our control. Risk of loss passes to you once the goods are handed to the carrier.

8. Pre-Finished Doors

Painted: Door edges are not pre-finished as they may need trimming. We supply a tester pot so you can finish the edges after installation. Doors are prone to warping, so painted doors must have their edges finished by the customer within 2 weeks of installation. Failure to do so may cause warping and will not be covered under our guarantee.

Oak: Our oak doors are oak-veneered with an engineered core (more stable than solid wood and more environmentally friendly). As oak is a natural product, shade, grain and knots will vary between doors. This is not a defect and is not covered by our guarantee. If a customer wishes to replace oak doors due to natural grain or shade variation, this will be at the customer's expense, covering both product and labour costs per door. If uniform appearance is essential, a wholly synthetic finish may be more suitable.

9. Damage to Existing Fixtures & Completion Sign-Off

On completion of fitting, you will be asked to inspect the work and sign our completion form to confirm you are satisfied with the installation. Any accidental damage to existing furniture, fixtures or finishings must be raised with our fitting team before they leave the property so it can be noted and resolved promptly. Damage reported after sign-off cannot be accepted as our liability, although we will review each case individually. Any agreed remedial work after sign-off will be charged at our standard product and labour rates, pre-agreed with you before work begins.

10. Guarantee & Aftercare

We guarantee our doors and fixings against faulty product or poor workmanship. Any issues raised within 28 days of installation will be addressed under our guarantee at no charge and booked into the next available appointment in your area. We aim to resolve issues as quickly as possible while honouring our existing appointment schedule.

After 28 days, a call-out and labour charge will apply, along with the cost of any materials needed.

The guarantee does not cover:

  • Natural variation in oak (shade, grain or knots).
  • Warping or finishing issues on painted doors where edges have not been sealed within 2 weeks of installation.
  • Doors that have been removed, rehung or altered (other than finishing).
  • Natural expansion or contraction of the doors.

Your statutory rights are not affected.

11. Faulty Products & Returns

Due to the nature of our business — supplying and installing doors to order — we do not operate a general returns or refund policy. If a product is found to be faulty or defective, we will rectify the issue under our guarantee (see Section 10) by repairing or replacing the affected door at our discretion. This does not affect your statutory rights under UK consumer law.

12. Use of Our Website

You must use our site lawfully and not misuse it (e.g. no hacking, scraping, spamming, infringing our IP, or impersonation). All content, branding and imagery on the site belongs to The Door Company UK and may not be copied or reused without our written permission.

13. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses (e.g. lost profits or loss of data) arising from use of our website or products. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.

14. Privacy

Any personal information we collect is handled in line with our Privacy Policy.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The latest version will always be available on our website.

16. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
